Thinking of buying a smart phone and I need some guidance.

I think when choosing a phone the most important thing is what the person expects it to do and how the person intends to, or would like to, use it. I, for one, don't want to use my phone to surf the net and play games. I do that stuff at home on my desktop. I have arthritis in my neck, shoulders and hands, and sitting hunched over a phone to do that stuff would exacerbate the heck out of those problems. No matter if a had the most expensive phone in the world, I still wouldn't do those things on it And same for texting -- arthritis in hands makes that very difficult. I like my smartphone, but there are certain things I just can't (or won't) do on it.

I'm not sure but I think cell phones have eclipsed the stand alone home phone in the numbers of phones in use.

It's tough to recommend a smart phone for someone else.

It depends on the person and what they want it to do for them.

There is quite a learning curve with all cell phones if you are not familiar with them.

Right now it's very cold out. My cell phone tells me when the bus will be here and where it is now so I don't have to stand in the cold at the bus stop.

That for me is very handy.

Then when I'm on the bus I can do a crossword to pass the time till I get to my destination.

It's fun.
