I hope you are finding some peace. 🕊
You're very kind. I've been thinking about Ronni also, and I hope she is doing okay after her devastating loss. I understand that she is not posting, I likely wouldn't either. @Ronni, please know we love you and are thinking of you. Wishing you and your family well.....hugs.I hope you are finding some peace. 🕊
Thoughts to @Colleen also. I'm glad you've kept posting and sharing your thoughts. It must be hard.
Just seeing this Ronni, so glad to see you posting again, glad your children helped with Christmas and you had some joy. Happy New Year sweet lady!Thank you all.
It was a very different Christmas for us this year. Christmas has always been my favorite time, with my whole house decorated, a festive tree with loads of presents under it for kids and grands, many social events with both family and friends. I wanted nothing to do with any of that this Christmas. No tree, no decorating, no gatherings with friends. The kids and I talked several times about what we wanted to do because Christmas has always been kid-and grandkid-centric, so I wanted to do whatever the family wanted, I just didn’t have the capacity to create something new.
IMy fantastic children took over and created an entirely new way for us to celebrate. So even though Christmas was still so hard, t could have been way more difficult if not for them.
We started a week early, attending a Christmas Party with Grayson and his amazing work family who adore him, and also throw a great party. It was themed, 60’s so everyone went in costume which made it extra fun. It was just for employees and their significant others, but Grayson’s boss was so kind and invited Ron and me and all his siblings. It’s the only gathering I went to, because no one knew me and I could be anonymous.
Christmas Eve We went to Cameron and Jenna’s house for Christmas Eve Karaoke which was so much fun! He has an elaborate karaoke setup, he made a bunch of food, had a small gift for each of us under the tree, and it was perfect. We all sang our hearts out to some ridiculous, funny songs (e.g Iwant a hippopotamus for Christmas) and some standards, plus a few contemporary tunes. Grayson and Paige even rapped a couple!
Christmas Day we went to Grayson’s who was the perfect host! We ate a delicious meal and played some new and fun board games while the kids tore around outside and climbed in the tractor and ran off a bunch of energy.
I have never been more grateful for my amazing, compassionate and loving children than I am this Christmas season. I love them so much.Had it not been for them taking over, Christmas would have been dismal. Everything we did was completely unlike our usual Christmas celebration, so there was little to trigger any of us, we weren’t tripping over old memories. It was still very hard, lots of tears, but lots of laughter too.
