This forum.

I'm so grateful that we can "talk" to one-another, in real time, day or night, from folks in many places:

England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA ....Have I left out anybody?

But, Why not some other countries; France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain etc.

Any thoughts?

Falcon, could it have something to do with speaking/reading/writing in English? Plus Europeans might have their own forums in which they can discuss things pertinent to them. The membership in this forum seems to be predominantly American with only a small handful of Canadians and Australians. There is an international forum out there I have noticed with language options.

You forgot the British members.

Oops, I'm very sorry UK members, I guess my coffee had not yet kicked in, it's dangerous to post when I'm not completely awake.

Yes, I would like to see the forum become even more international. I suspect it is the language barrier. While residents of many other countries do speak English fluently as a second language, perhaps they prefer to speak their own language, especially in their leisure activities.

I remember an Italian man (in Italy) on the forum a couple years ago .... Flaminia ... miss him, and his recipes!
He wrote in English very well. But I guess he moved on ..?

Well, altho' I know a much larger international British based forum, as well as UK only forums and Spanish forums all of which I'm a current member or have been in the past...I like this one the way it is, best forum on the internet IMO.. although granted it could do with some new members otherwise topics get stale . There's rarely any infighting compared to the larger ones comparatively and no cliques , or people feeling they're left on the periphery because of closed cliques, so I like it smallish like this for the more personal touch.. ....but what puzzles me is that there are zillions of Americans ..(given that this is a US based site).... who have internet access and a good sized proportion of those who must be lonely or looking for a nice unstressful place to chat..why they're not knocking on the door to come in to SF their hundreds...?

The one I belonged to for several years until it shut down was called Eons (for baby boomers), the majority of whom were Americans. There were thousands on it. I don't know what forums these people are on now. I know a couple of people here were on it.

Over the years I have belonged to several forums and some of those did attract people from The Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, South Africa, France and someone I remember from the Philipines, as well as this forum I belong to U.K. forums , a couple of Australian forums and a Belgium ex-pats forum, plus I am still a member of several forums that I very rarely visit these days.

I wouldn't like to say one forum is any better than another it depends what interests you have and how well you gell with the members.

I wonder if it is a age factor? That internet usage is not as prevalent for seniors in some countries? I know that in some countries they are unable to access many American sites. Though the really tech savvy find work-a-rounds.
I have been in forums, still a member of one, that had a large international member base. A lot of Asian's and Latinos. A sprinkling of Asian seniors but, primarily in their 30's to 50's. More European members were in their late 40's to 50's.
Thinking about it, all of the older international members were professionals and well traveled.
