Hello

My name is Nathaniel but everyone calls me Nathan. I'm 67, retired, and soon to be 68. I live in a tiny town in central Utah called Richfield but I'm not a Mormon.
I'm a writer and published author. I love movies (no slasher flicks), trying new foods, good conversation, nature walks, board games, American Ninja Warriors (TV show), as well as jazz and bluegrass. I read a lot but generally nonfiction.

I look forward to making friends and having interesting conversations.

Nathan

Richfield? 😂 I’ve been to Richfield about 20 years ago when some friends of ours moved there. there was very little there then and I assume there is still very little there now. They opened a wall of the house they bought and found it filled with dead mice. 🤮

Does everyone notice how when someone joins from Utah, they usually give the disclaimer “I‘m not Mormon“. 🤣🤣🤣. We had someone else join recently, forget who, and they are in northern Utah and not Mormon. I am in Salt Lake and not Mormon. But, mormons in Utah are free to join this forum-just saying 😳😉.

Welcome to the forum.

Hello Aneeda. Richfield is tiny, just under 8,000 residents. It's grown from 7,000 in the four years I've been here. There isn't a lot to do here but I am not looking for a thrill ride as I did when I was younger. I said I'm not a Mormon, Aneeda, because this is Utah and the majority of Utahans are Mormons. At least they were when I moved to Utah from southern California 13 years ago. :)

We moved from southern California 35 plus years ago. I grew up in Anaheim. It was really bad here then and we were shunned. Neighbors finally spoke to us after 20 years. 😂. It is better now and with the recent influx of people I am not sure what the percentages are. The LDS population might now be at 50 percent.

They no longer roll up the sidewalks and most businesses are open on Sunday and holidays. Utah has finally joined mainstream USA. 😉

Hey Nathan! Glad you're here!

Hi Gaer. Thank you for the welcome! Utah is a decent state and Mormons generally don't bother folks. A local Mormon Grand Poobah (or whatever) came to my door when I first moved in and almost demanded to know my name and all sorts of details. I was not forthcoming. That as that with the Mormons. My four books are now out of print...and proberly someday I will list them. Thank you for the interest.

Big warm welcome to you, Nathan, from Beautiful British Columbia Canada!

Truly lovely. Thank you. I have only been to Windsor and Toronto. I loved Toronto and Canadians. Vey similar yet very different (in good ways) than Americans. The city was much cleaner than a big American city and there was no graffiti. The people were friendlier too. Maybe things have changed in the 45 years since I was in Toronto.

Nothing has changed here at all in regards to our friendliness, Nathaniel, other than our country has become more friendly and welcome to visitors.

If ever you have the opportunity to visit again, focus your attention on the West Coast.
