I too am adverse to organized religion and my books reflect that. I was a Christian for 15 years (as well as a pastor of the Evangelical Church Alliance International of Bradley Illinois) from age 20 to 35. Then, I became a Buddhist (Zen) and a year or so later I became a sensei. Then a couple of years after that I was ordained to the priesthood. Working with a few other Zen priests we organized a Pure Land sect that is completely American. I was the first Secretary of the organization and I also helped in selecting the books for the curriculum in the school we organized to train clergy. The sect is called Hongaku Jodo. (Hongaku means, loosely translated from Japanese, inherently possessing enlightenment nature.) The sect still exists. I remained a Buddhist for 28 years until I had wrung every last drop out of it. I returned to Christianity four years ago but not to the ministry. Fear not, I am no fundamentalist.Oh ! Woo! I thought if you click on my picture (or anyone's picture) and click on "About" if will bring up all their info.
Anyway, (This is funny) My books are about angels and SPIRITUALITY. I consider this adverse to organized religion.
Don't hold that against me! I'm sure you're a very nice fellow!

Welcome,Hello
My name is Nathaniel but everyone calls me Nathan. I'm 67, retired, and soon to be 68. I live in a tiny town in central Utah called Richfield but I'm not a Mormon.
I'm a writer and published author. I love movies (no slasher flicks), trying new foods, good conversation, nature walks, board games, American Ninja Warriors (TV show), as well as jazz and bluegrass. I read a lot but generally nonfiction.
I look forward to making friends and having interesting conversations.
Nathan

you must be familiar then with the Bhagavad Gita. I am re-reading that right now! I am a follower of The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Deep meditation and have been since the age of 25. However, I was a householder and a Mother of two, so could not be a devotee of expanding consciousness until much later in my life.I too am adverse to organized religion and my books reflect that. Hey there youngster! (Kidding) Thanks for the welcome. My books (all with religious themes) are now all out of print, the most recent went out of print last month. I am none too proud of the first two because they bash Christianity. Thank you for the interest, Youngatheart, but I will let sleeping dogs lie. For now.Welcome,
What books dd you publish?
I have read the Gita in several translations and enjoyed it. Even though it was noticeably sectarian I favored the translation by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. The notes were extremely helpful too. I did TM for ten years from age 20 to 30. Then I switched to Zazen which is really quite complex and took a number of years to master. I have meditated two hours a day and sometimes much more if I set aside time to do so. (Not a lot of TV watching time!) I stopped a couple of years ago but have taken up the practice again. Thank you for your interest Gaer. You too are interesting to me. Your practice extends for several decades as well. The first time I did TM (age 20, living in a Christian commune in Flint, Michigan) I had an experience of Cosmic Consciousness and I was hooked! Experiences come and go but meditation is so very helpful in so many ways I recommend it to all. TM is very nicely simple and tends to be easy to encourage people to try.Oh ! Woo!
