I thought it would be a few more years, perhaps in my mid 80's before I got another cat. Our Audra has been gone for decades. But this tiny kitten with the loud voice (who sounds more like a kitten now) appeared on our patio one night and wouldn't leave, especially after we fed her the next day. She could have chosen any of the 23 other patios in our complex, but she chose ours. She hid from me behind a large tote on the patio, until 2:30 a.m. (the 2nd night). I tricked her with the help of a neighbor's carrier and a small dish of tuna.
After I got her into the house the first thing she did was christen my couch with pee and poop (luckily it was firm, not messy)!. Then I realized I didn't plan this so well.
So I made makeshift litterbox from a cardboard box with papers in it. She made herself at home but I soon found out I had to create a fortress to keep her away from the wires behind our equipment. I also had to be very careful about all the normal every day things I'd been doing. I made things for her to play with out of what was already here. My son picked up supplies and toys for her the next day. She changed my life and it's all been worth it !
These were taken before I brought her in the house.

After relieving herself on our sofa, it was time for a cat nap.
