This Moose Has A Hankerin' For Something Salty

Neat!....and the driver of that car was wise to let the moose do its thing. A moose that big could do some serious damage to a car if it felt threatened. Animals have a way of finding the means to survival. In the past couple of weeks, I've started putting out some corn for our local deers, since the forage this time of year is minimal, and they are already getting used to their daily "treat". Now, when I go outdoors for more than a few minutes, a couple of them quickly appear in the yard, and start waiting for me to bring their lunch.

Beautiful animal how exciting to get close up video like that for those people. I know Don the moose could have really done some serious damage if they didn't keep their cool. These animals have a need for salt in their diet and unless they start putting out adequate salt licks in these areas they'll get it however they can I'm glad he wasn't hurt at all

We've seen them on numerous camping vacations Ruth, but never a close view like in that video...but pretty close, didn't always get pictures, one was just feet away from our truck one time, but between the schnizzel , my pocket camera and the evening lighting my pics just didn't come out for me.

Thanks Ruth, yes they are. I have a few closer, but too poor quality to share.

Great pictures...reminds me of a trip we took through Canada a few years ago...Elk all over the place, and an occasional Moose, gobs of mountain sheep and even a couple of big bears. In Jasper Park, just west of Edmonton, the Elk and Sheep were so thick that traffic often had to stop when the critters took over the road...perhaps the nicest trip we ever took.

Moose have a tendency to have torrid love affairs with lawn tractors and VW's. About every year, I'll see a story out of Maine or New Hampshire about some local lothario who has fallen in love with someone's riding mower and insists on making repeated attempts to mate with it. I mean....dang, boy....she's just not into you.... Apparently moose are a few berries short of a pie, especially in mating season.
