Data breaches are happening every day.

For example, from 23rd May to today, there have been breaches at Adidas, Bike Hire apps, North Face, Cartier, and 23andMe.

If you go back a few years there have been breaches at LinkedIn, several at Yahoo, First American Financial Group, Facebook, Marriot, Alibaba, etc.

They won't ever be stopped, sadly.

Data breaches are unfortuntely common these days as hackers get more and more sophisticated. My information has been leaked in several breaches, including one at Adobe, which I have to use for work. It's not something over which a person has a lot of control.

The only thing one can really do is stay on top of their passwords, change passwords regularly, use 2FA, freeze their credit accounts, keep a very sharp eye on bank and credit card statements, etc. Not to mention being very cautious about clicking on any sort of link, especially those included in an email.

I have also set limits on purchase amounts for all of my cards, credit and debit, so if someone attempts to make a purchase over a certain amount I am notified.
