Sometimes water would go down our bathroom sink normally, sometimes it would go down a bit slower when the water was running. It could be the same day. Yesterday morning, it was draining fine at first then started draining too slowly. Before my son left for the mosque, he tried the baking soda and vinegar trick. That seemed to have made it worse. At about 1/2 the sink full, the water just sat there. It took about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour for it to go down. He also tried our accordion style plunger, but that didn't work either.

After the mosque he stopped at Harbor Freight and picked up the gadget below, which I'd never heard of before. I was skeptical and told him he should have told me he was going to the store...I would have told him to get Green Goblin, which my BFF's plumber told her was great for unclogging drains a couple of weeks ago after he had to snake out one of her drains.

My son hadn't been in the bathroom but a minute and yelled for me to come see. I couldn't imagine what had happened. He was excited when he told me this gadget unclogged the drain in less than a minute. The water has been draining normally ever since, even while the water is still running. It only cost him $13 and saved us at least $75! It has two attachments, one I assume is for the toilet and a smaller one for sink drains.

Just a word of caution for specific circumstances and using a plunger. Just last week, Christmas eve as a matter of fact, my garbage disposal backed up with black water standing in the sink. Yuck.

So I got out a plunger and plunged the sink clog.

Well, the plunger applied too much force and damaged the internal seals and gaskets in the garbage disposal. Water started leaking out the bottom of the garbage disposal ... AND it didn't even unclog the sink drain lines.

What I had to do was pull the pipes in the cabinet underneath the sink and clean them out. It was an easy job. The pipes just screwed together under there.

I found a replacement garbage disposal that was "plug 'n play" because it was the same manufacturer and similar model dimensionally to my 19yr old discontinued model I "blew up". Probably needed replacing anyway. I installed a new garbage disposal on Friday morning. Cost? ... $100. Caught the garbage disposal on sale (online only) at Ace Hardware. Regular $149. Is $149 at Lowes too. Amazon for $114 ... I looked around.

So a plunger is great when it works but don't shoot yourself in the foot like I did. In the case of the bathroom sink, you may have just needed to pull the p-trap and clean it but hey, the plunger worked and you didn't blow up any pipes

I'd been curious if you'd opt for the blu tooth version.;)
