This surprised me at the store

I ordered for pick up at the store for some craft supplies at Michaels. I went to pick up my stuff yesterday. Anyways, I did not have to see a store rep. I did not have to show any proof of purchase. I did not have to show ID. All I had to do was go to a shelving unit which was divided up alphabetically, look under the initial of my last name, and take my purchases. No one was guarding this shelving unit. On top of that it was next to the exit. I could have easily taken stuff that wasn't mine and walked out easily!

I decided to buy some additional craft supplies while I was there and so while I was with the cashier, I said to her, wow, you guys are sure trusting just leaving stuff there for anyone to take easily. She smiled and said in all of the time that the store has been open there, no one has ever stolen anything from the Pick-Up area. Goodness, I guess us Crafters/Artists are an honest bunch.

It is the same way with some food places these days. If I order something online from a place like Cava, I simply pick up the bag at a designated area. I think it probably has less to do with trust and more to do with lack of staff.
