This years Rose Bowl 2026

Hats off to Indiana. They are on a whole 'nother level this year and they have a great coach ... who was once an assistant coach at Alabama under Nick Saban. Saban always could pick winners.

Is it even possible to be any more ashamed of Alabama's "performance" in the Rose Bowl than I am? And I use the term performance quite loosely.

Probably not. That particular shade of second-hand humiliation is pretty much a ceiling event.

Alabama didn’t just lose that Rose Bowl, they looked confused doing it. Flat, undisciplined, out-coached, and oddly unprepared for a team that did exactly what everyone knew they were going to do. When a program built on “we’re tougher and smarter than you” gets pushed around and out thought on that stage, it hits a different nerve.

What really stings is that it wasn’t some heroic shootout or last-second heartbreak. It was the slow realization, quarter by quarter, that this version of Alabama just wasn’t Alabama in the way fans have been conditioned to expect. That’s the kind of loss that lingers.

So no, I'm probably already at max capacity on the shame scale. The only consolation is that when a standard has been that high for that long, even a bad night feels like a public collapse. Most programs would call it a “down year.” Alabama fans call it an existential crisis.

Well, Miami upset the Buckeyes 24-14. Good win for them. Congratulations.
I was born and raised in Ohio, so I was a Buckeye fan forever. It was very painful and upsetting to watch the game against the Canes. It appeared that the offensive and defensive lines didn’t show up and neither did the defensive backs show up. It was a very poor effort on the part of the Buckeyes.

The Canes second touchdown was a Christmas gift from Sayin, the quarterback. It was obvious that the Buckeyes weren’t able to read the Miami’s defense. All around a poor effort on behalf of the Buckeyes.

I was also born and raised in Ohio, but moved away 1n 1967 after college. Have not been able to root much over the last 60 years for the Browns (when they beat the Baltimore Colts 27-0 for the National Football League championship), but am an Ohio State fan. I would submit that the Buckeyes have had two good years in a row. Last year they won the national championship! This year, just as importantly, they beat Michigan(!) after having lost the prior two years.

Lots of college football left to play and hope they're good games. The best game I've watched so far was the Ole Miss vs Georgia Sugar Bowl. I think the refs missed some obvious calls that should have gone against Georgia but that's how it goes sometimes I guess. The refs did throw a flag during the very last play of the game when Georgia was running that mad lateral scramble as the game ended. The flag wasn't announced, but I think it was on Ole Miss ... for winning ;)

The Browns have been pitiful since rejoining the NFL after Modell moved the club to Baltimore to become the Ravens and Irsay moved his Colts to Indianapolis. The “new” Browns franchise had a new owner, who has also since sold the club. Modell also has sold the Ravens.

The Browns have had a long list of quarterbacks since rejoining the NFL. They need a highly experienced GM that knows the game and understands the position of a GM. Over the years, I have watched a lot of Browns’ games and I think they should start with the basics of putting together a strong offensive and defensive line. Next move would be to fill the offense and defense with pro grade men.

@Naturally, your post reminded me of Missouri's (pathetic) football team back in the early to mid-1990s. I don't even know that much about football, but even I could see at the games how bad they were. We went to one game in West Virginia back in 1994 or 1995 that was truly cringeworthy.

All very true. All Modell wanted was a new stadium, which he didn't get, and the team that went to Baltimore then won the Super Bowl two years later. The Browns (and Cleveland) always seem to make the wrong decision (like a massive fully guaranteed contract to a certain quarterback who has been injured since then and ineffective in the few games that he did play). Like many of us, I am still a Baker Mayfield fan, although he has had his problems of late. The Browns do have one super star in Myles Garrett on defense.

At least LeBron James did get Cleveland an NBA world championship!

Oh, talk about the Cavs, they would still be looking for a ring if LeBron hadn’t returned to Cleveland. Nick Mileti had no problem building the Coliseum in Richfield. The Coliseum was nice, but the fans thought it was too far from the city.

Only Rose Bowl I'm interested in is the parade. :) But that wasn't that enjoyable to watch because of the rain drops on the cameras.
It was sad to see the damage the rain did to some of the floats. Those people work SO HARD on those floats. I did some volunteer work on a float for the Citrus Bowl Parade years ago and it was really hard work attaching those oranges. My fingers were done-for after four hours of that.
