Those Ceaseless Phone Scams

Don't want to start a new thread, but I have a question about scam calls.

This morning when my phone rang, I looked at the caller ID .. it said 'Scam Likely' and the number ... first time I've ever seen that.
Do they at long last have some technology that can process these annoying calls? ..

If so, HOORAY!

This is what I have done for unwanted calls on my landline phone:

1) I write down the number and the time and report it to the "do not call registry":
https://www.donotcall.gov

2) I also have contacted my telephone provider and gave them all the unwanted phone numbers. Apparently they have a log
of phone calls made to your number and can block them for you. It was free.

It seems to work. I hardly get any unwanted calls these days. :)

I've got two now in my email. Everything looks legit until I saw what was ordered from Amazon & this place said they were having problems with my credit card so they could send out the delivery. The order was for a 75" QLED TV & the 5-year warranty for it.

I didn't touch or click on any of the things on that email but it gave me a toll-free number to call to resolve the payment issue. Nope did not call.

So I called Amazon & a very nice young man answered & I was telling him about this scam I got in an email I gave him the order numbers. He looked them up & they were going to a person with the same first & last name as me almost but out in South Dakota. Only one letter was different in the last name. My mine is Mar(C)inko. The one in the order was to Mar(s)inko

He told me to disregard that email & whatever I do, do not click on anything in it. He will send it to their fraud Dept to see what's going on.

I have made it a fast and firm rule (for myself) I tell them all "I neither buy nor donate over the phone", and I NEVER change that. I don't care what they are selling or begging for!

One day our son was visiting a friend, and the friend had another visitor, who was selling things on the phone, he said he could sell to anyone. Son told him "nope you couldn't sell to my mother".
