Thoughts on preparing the will

I am listening to lectures about the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the Rise of Nations. I am doing this because my grandmother was a teacher when teachers believed the best education is about well-rounded individual growth that brings out the best in us, and that such education is what makes a democracy strong. Truly Thomas Jefferson devoted his life and fortune to this democratic purpose and intent.

That democracy cannot long exist without enlightenment; That it cannotfunction without wise and honest officials; That talent and virtue, needed in a free society, should be educated regardless of wealth, birth or other accidental condition; That other children of the poor must thus be educated at common expence.

With what is happening today, maybe there is some thought of preparing the will and what that has to do with liberty. I am hopeful because the Renaissance came out of very bad times so maybe we are at the beginning of another Renaissance and better solutions to human problems.

You remind me of a joke I read many years ago. A man was standing at the customer service counter in heaven. He said "I do not like life. Do you have something better to offer?"
