Three season porch - do you have one?

Sounds inviting, although I am looking for something that keeps the bugs and sun out, yet comfortable enough to spend time in. We used to have a wrap around veranda at our cabin in the mountain and used to sit outside in the evenings watching the stars.
Then you could just screen it.

We have a sunroom that we added when kids were living here and we needed more room . We knew we would have it to enjoy after they were gone. We use it four seasons here. It has heat vents and a ceiling fan. Good money spent.
There's a large patio table out there and that's where we eat when everyone is there. Except in extreme heat or cold.
It sounds wonderful! Glad you're enjoying it!

we put up 2 heavy gazebos..one in shade....summer
one in sun....winter...
we used earth anchors on both...
and

we put roll up...heavy gauge..clear..see thru vinyl in winter one....heats up great when sunny..blocks wind...
for over 4 years..we have enjoyed them
tops are reinforced with trampoline replacement mats..
sturdy material ...just an idea

Interesting you mentioned about winter and spring. Do you get much use of it during the other months?
We will have summer meals during celebrations out there if it is not too hot. For winter, however, I put up plastic and panels to keep out the weather and help with the heating bill. Otherwise snow blows in there and it is almost like not having a porch at all. The porch is at least 10 degrees warmer than outside even though it is not heated.

Sounds interesting! Are the gazebos attached to the house or do you need to go outside? I'm trying to picture them.

Well, today the contractor came to have a look at the deck and do the measuring. I found out the deck is around 30 ft by 14 ft.

He said I would need an architect and a permit to move forward. He will contact them. We also talked about what type of glass windows to use. I had read that low-e glass windows with low UV factor helps keep the temperature inside comfortable so I mentioned this to him. He said the sunroom will probably have two windows on each side and three or four in the front with a 60" French door.

The sloping roof will come to 8 feet high at the base. It was quite interesting. I know this will take time and going back and forth with the many details. What I like about this contractor is that he listens and is willing to work with me. So we shall see how this progresses.

It's been several months since I posted, and I have now changed contractors. The 30 ft by 14 ft original size for my four season sunroom has been lowered to 16 x 14 ft. due to the high cost, but I am happy with the choice. Today, I am sending a photo of the progress the crew of 4 men has made in two days!

Thanks, @PeppermintPatty! They are working fast. They've been coming 7 AM and staying until 3-3:30PM. Today, they cut it short because it started raining around 2:30 but they had time to throw a tarp over the subfloor.

We had a Florida room without heat or air when we bought this house.

We had a bigger HVAC system put in and ran ducts out there. There's a sliding door between that and the kitchen with two steps down.

It's my TV room. I can watch what I like down there and the Spousal Equivalent can watch his shows in the living room.
That's wonderful, @jujube! I plan to have a mini-split ac/hvac installed. They already added the insulation underneath the subfloor. I so much look forward to being in it.

We had an old house in Wisconsin that had a big enclosed front porch. I used my mom’s old kitchen carpet when she got rid of it and hung curtains. Then I put our old loveseat out there and it was a favorite spot for everyone to read. It wasn’t usable in the winter unless we had a really sunny day. We got a lot of use out of it for 14 years.

I have a screened porch in front of the house and a large one in the back. The cats love it as we do.
I used to walk my dogs through the neighborhood and watched this lady reading sitting on her porch every day. It gave me the idea to build the house with two porches.
Some of my neighbors have added windows, air and heat to their porches. We decided to leave it just screened.
@palides2021 your porch looks beautiful!

This is the latest update on the sunroom. Outside, the vinyl siding and gutters are all installed. On the inside, the windows were installed a few days ago. Today, they built the frames that encase the windows. I've decided to go with ultra white color and egg shell. Still waiting on the vinyl planks to arrive. This was the best shot I could take since they left all these materials in the room. Note, the light at the top of the ceiling is a reflection from the light inside the kitchen.

Oh that looks lovely Palides - looks well on it's way to completion! Bet you can't wait to get in there.

Over the years and looking at property programmes over there, or even in films, I long for a property with a wrap around porch type thing, where folk have swings. I'd love something like that - enjoying the outside with the birds singing, sat swinging the swing..... heaven! :)

We don't get properties like that over the UK sadly.
I had a conservatory built in my last house and loved it - even tho' it was too hot in summer and freezing in winter, I really miss it.
