Tickets and fines in your lifetime. Take a guess.

Been a while since I got a speeding ticket (15 years?). It is so easy to get up to nearly 70mph on these lonely newly repaved country roads but I usually catch myself quickly and slow down. If I did not have cruise control I think I would be getting tickets here and there.

I've not gotten fines, tickets or anything like that. I haven't ever been stopped by a cop. I haven't caused any accidents, and only been in one.

I figure I'm lucky in that regard. I love driving fast on curving roads and hairpin curves and on the interstate in the WV mountains. I love driving fast, period. I only do it when it's safe. In WV, only in extra light traffic -- those mountain roads can be steep and curvy.

One time, I was talking to a forest ranger I knew and he told me to drive extra slowly around the hairpin that was on my route in the mountains. I agreed. When I got to the curve, I realized I'd been on it before at pretty high speeds, and lo and behold, it never registered with me that it was a hairpin curve.

Before they widened that one highway in W.V. you could almost kiss your rear on some of those turns! That road scared me!
