Time for the Fall Season

Yup, Fall. I noticed the types of bugs changes. And this is the time I put down a bunch of mouse 'baits' under the deck. Apparently, there is a neon sign in mouse language that says "Enter Here". And it's time to wash the green gunk, from summer off the siding.
I guess I'm not the poetic type.

If you wash off your green slime with cleaning vinegar it won't come back so bad. We get our Ohio mice when the corn is harvested... they just looking for a cozy winter home.

I keep both of those in the fridge at all times so my vegan son can microwave one when he gets hungry -- which is all the time.
They are handy, filling, and inexpensive.

Potatoes were one of my go to survival foods when I was starting to live on my own.

I could eat them at every meal! 🐷🐷🐷

I’m old school when it comes to storing potatoes in a cool dark place.

Like so many things the experts are divided on which is best, go figure. 😉🤭😂

Why you should avoid refrigerating raw potatoes:
  • Starch to Sugar Conversion:
Cold temperatures convert starches to sugars, leading to a sweeter taste and a darker color when cooked.

  • Increased Acrylamide:
Refrigeration can increase the levels of acrylamide, a potential carcinogen, which forms when starchy foods are cooked at high temperatures.

  • Changed Texture:
The texture of refrigerated potatoes can become soft, mealy, and lose its flavor.
