Time has come for major change

Made some major changes this week. Sold my Arkansas land and have bought another house here in Florida. Will rent out this one and maybe down the road sell it. Pained me to let go of my land, but, being up there and just cleaning up just the house site showed me I wouldn't be able to maintain the property. So, time for a new chapter.
The new house sits also one an acre, so I'll still have some yard work to keep me busy.

I would really enjoy having a garage like that. First thing would be to buy a project car and start doing a frame off restoration. I always wanted to do a 1952 Chevrolet, 2-door, Bel Air, or a 4-door sedan.

I think I would change only one thing. Move the jacuzzi much closer to the bar. Close up the reaching distance.

I have a good friend living in Polk County (Winter Haven), which is in central Florida. I spent a lot of time there with him working on homes for people who didn’t have a lot of money to pay for high end contractors. After last year’s hurricane (Ian) went through, I was there 3 weeks repairing roofs.

In June and part of July, I spent 5 weeks there working on homes for people who didn’t have much money. If they could pay for the parts, we did the work for free or just a donation. We really enjoyed doing good for the old timers. I’m 62 and he’s 64 now. I probably spent a few hundred bucks out of my own pocket fixing different things, but it was worth it to see the smiles on their faces when we were done.

Yesterday, I spent all day in Carlisle, Pennsylvania at the Corvette Show. Over 3000 Corvettes on display. The GM engineering team was there also. The one engineer handed me the key to a new 2023 Corvette and said to take it around the track. It was the Z-06 with a 5.5 liter engine. It was just cool to drive it around the track. It’s rated at 670 horsepower. I would like to have had it on a straight track.

I am moving to Florida myself. I am having trouble deciding if I should move to Jacksonville or Pensacola. I really enjoy being in Florida. I like the warm weather in winter and even though it’s hot in the summer, that’s a good reason to go to the beach or hit the pools. I also enjoy going out in a boat on the Gulf and fish. There’s not much fish out of the Gulf that I like to eat, maybe Grouper, Black Tip Shark and Drum, but that’s about it.

While Pensacola is nice, it's also in the path of most of the bad hurricanes. Jacksonville too far north for me and weather isn't as favorable (my opinion only, your's may differ). I prefer the corridor between highway 41 and highway 301. (more elbow room).
I was going to rent out my other house as it's closer to the Gulf (off highway 19) and folks seem to like to be near the water, but, decided to sell it instead. Way too crowded for me. Already have had an offer on it, so it's going.
