Tipping---- I sure know about tipping so do you tip?

Tipping food service people, servers, waiters, waitresses IMO is because they don't get a wage that is equivalent to as the example a store clerk or cook. Tips make up the shortfall and are taxed. Less than 20% of the bill doesn't help those that serve. The various situations that can cause slow service and can be figured out that the server has no control over that, IMO don't penalize the server.

Like Don M we get comped for meals and tip against the bill total. Really good is when player club points can be accumulated and used to buy surf & turf at the high end restaurant in the casinos we play at. The points are a nice way for the casinos to get us to return, probably a spin off from the 80's when we flew out to play in the black jack tournaments. Then room & food were comped, all we had to do was show up and spend money while staying.

I also tip at affairs such as banquets or Weddings. The customer gets charged a gratuity surcharge, but does it get to the staff? I have had sevseral friends or family membersthat were servers and without exception banquets were despised. I will slip either the captain or the waiter concentrating on my area a bit to show my appreciation!
