Today I celebrated December 1st.

It's December 1st. It really isn't the first day of Winter BUT IT OUGHT TO BE, DAMMIT!

I've really always liked December 1st. Hurricane season is officially over. I feel justified in gettin' jiggy wid it, Christmas-wise. The malls are decorated, the Salvation Army bells are ringing outside the stores, all over there are big tents with lotsa Christmas trees. There's a wreath on the door. It's CHRISTMAS!!!

So, to celebrate December 1st, I put on a pair of jeans to do my appointed rounds. Cheez und crackerz.....my legs feel like boiled knockwurst. It's hot out there! Bah humbug to December 1st. It doesn't know how to behave!

Tomorrow morning I'm dragging the two youngun's down to the Christmas Parade. I'm wearing shorts.

I celebrated December 1st, too. First off, I got Paid. Later I went out and bought my roommate a birthday present. I have groceries in my icebox, my roof don't leak. Sometime I pause and remind myself how lucky I am.

Growing up in Wisconsin ..... Santa is always shown bundled up. I used to post at a couple forums that had ladies that live in Fla & Hawaii ... I asked them what their Santa's looked like. They sent me Christmas Cards that showed Santa in shorts among palm trees .... or Santa doing the hula in a grass skirt . For whatever reason - I thought that was hillarious !
Ho-Ho-Ho !!!!

Still wearing shorts and short sleeves here in Houston but supposed to change in a few days to winter. Will believe it when I feel it.

We've had the 2nd warmest November since record keeping began...with daytime highs in the 60's to low 70's. All that is due to change by mid-week, as several Arctic fronts are supposed to arrive, and we may be lucky to see temps get into the upper 40's for the rest of December...and then, Jan and Feb comes. We've had mild Winters since 2010/2011, and if the long range forecasts are correct, we are due for a long cold Winter.

We haven't had rain since August and because of the high pressure our air is full of gunk so it is hard to get in the spirit right now. Hopefully we will have a cold front move in soon !

It's still very unseasonably warm here -- no jacket needed except in the very early morning or the middle of the night. It's kind of weird to be running around in a tee shirt after Thanksgiving. I'm finally having my swamp cooler winterized next week, which is WAY later than I usually have it done.
