Today is International Polar Bear Day

Happy International Polar Bear Day! This day, observed on February 27th, aims to raise awareness about the conservation status of polar bears and the impact of climate change on their Arctic habitat.

Polar bears are powerful, majestic creatures that rely on sea ice for hunting seals, which are their primary food source. Unfortunately, melting ice due to global warming threatens their survival.

My dad was in the Merchant Navy when I was very young and he brought home these two book ends, no idea where he purchased them. Dad had one finger missing which he used to tell me- and later on his grandchildren - that it had been bitten off by a polar bear.
