Toddlers + Tiaras (Yea or Nay)?

I have just seen limited viewing of this show, and I am completely against it. The mother's have issues, IMO. They actually inject their young children with botox, etc. in the hope of making them 'all they can be'. Some think it's cute, I think it's sick. It's sexualizing these young kids, who haven't even had the opportunity to develop their own personalities yet, Honey Boo Boo...will refrain from comment. http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/tv/toddlers-tiaras/toddlers-tiaras-ultimate-photo-gallery11.htm. Far from the Gerber baby contests of old. What do you think?

A huge NAY! Babies, Toddlers and Children are NOT dolls. They are NOT objects to make up and dress up. Whatever happened to women's lib? After decades of women struggling for equality and independence - this? What for?

It is a sign of abuse, IMO. I won't watch any of those shows either. I hear those kids get seriously insulted on facebook too, and they are emotionally affected by the remarks. The mothers need help in most cases, many of them are beauty queen wanna-bees, and since they never made it, they want to live their dreams through their child. They're making these poor toddlers grow up too soon, with loose morals. The poses and outfits on some of them are just plain trashy. A little girl in my area, Jon Bonet Ramsey was one of those young beauty queens, and she was murdered. They never did find who did it, some suspect her parents, I have no proof, but I'm sure it was related to this sick dress-up display.

I know! Like I say, the mothers need some mental counseling, so the child's life isn't negatively affected by all this nonsense.

I've never watched the show, but seeing pictures of just ONE result of it on the 'Net - Honey Boo Boo - I know I'll NEVER watch it. I could find far better things to do with my time.

... like watching the paint dry.

It's a sad commentary on what society finds entertaining - that's why for the most part I shun society.

I agree. Many of the 'reality' shows today not only leave a lot to be desired, but are 'mind-numbing' time consumers for too many people out there. Scary to think what the future adults will be like, the ones that sit in front of the TV watching Coco Loves Ice or The Kardashians.

I never understood exactly how you could make an on-going TV series about cocoa and ice - I mean, seriously -

... HOW do you make something like that interesting?

No, no, and no. Not only does Honey Boo-Boo need a trip to the Woodshed but someone needs to take her mother in there and knock the snot out of her - I don't care how "sweet and nice" they all are.

Coco, Ice, and the Kardashians --- an even bigger gag on those. Where's Carol Burnett, Milton Berle, et al when you need them?

They're selling "Best of" Carol Burnett DVDs on TV now, but I'm pretty sure those episodes could be found for free online a few other places ... between her, Vicki Lawrence and Tim Conway it was usually always hilarious, especially when Tim would make it a point to crack them up.

I also used to watch the Dean Martin roasts until everyone started dying off. I had a friend recommend I watch the new version - I watched 5 miutes and turned it off. It wasn't funny - it was just filthy. That often seems to be what passes for comedy these days.
