Okay, here's how we deal with the toilet paper situation so that it's not such an issue (if it's an issue at all):
We have a "Biffy" bidet arm (
not a separate bidet bowl) that attaches to the side of the toilet. It swings in and out to spray water on one's "parts". That means we mainly just sop up instead of, well,
smearing. And thus less toilet paper usage. WAY less.
