Tomorrow (Sunday, Sept 28th) is the volunteer recognition luncheon

For the home delivered meals and other service people that donate their time and effort to the agency.

It's at new place this year and instead of being given the choice of chicken or vegan dish served al la carte, it will be served buffet style. I can see it now - 200 people rushing up to the salad bar.

All I gotta say is eat dessert first! It is amazing how many people never do that!

Tomorrow we have our monthly buffet brunch to the tune of $28.00 for guests. For us residents, it's free. Now that is a joke since we pay about $5,000.00 or more a month to live here.

I told my son, not to come to these, as they are a total rip-off.

Now family night is something else, every 3 months. The dinner is outstanding, excellent entertainment and making good friends. This Brunch thing came up just about 6 months ago and it is supposedly a fund raiser for Alzheimer's research.

The food was mediocre, but the cheesecake was good - what there was of it, and that wasn't served buffet style.

I don't know who was in charge of procuring the door prizes this year, but one was a gift certificate to an excavating company. Now if anyone needed a hole dug..... Anyway, I didn't win anything. I won a $25 gift card to a local restaurant last year and haven't used it yet. $25 is an awkward amount. I looked at the restaurant's online menu and their prices for dinners are in the $14 to $19 range. That means there's leftover money on the card, but not enough to get anything else unless paid OOP.

I think the chicken and salad with some NY cheesecake sounds good.
