Too Many Knee Replacements?

Some are starting to question the number of knee replacements. They say around 1/3 of them maybe unnecessary. It should be an option but like with any surgery is it the only option.

I was reading on hip problems and replacements and the author said the term bad hip is over used. If nothing else it should be a weak hip because the wear in the hip comes from over use and/or weak muscles, tendons & ligaments associated with the hips. When those tissues become weak there less control and stability which puts even more stress on the hip joint causing excessive wear. I can see the same thing with the knees. After doing knee rehab excerises year round after I finished knee surgery and rehab my knees work and feel better know than before an injury. And I worked out prior to injury. Like many things you have to work at it/on it. The easiER fix of surgery or pill isn't always the answer.

I have had arthritis in my knees and hips for years. When we were living in an area close to the sea, I could hardly walk with the pain, to say nothing of the noise that came from my knees. I expected to have to have replacements in the near future.
After hearing that living close to water is one of the worst things for arthritis sufferers, we shifted more inland and the difference is incredible, seldom any pain, and with light exercise I hardly know it's there, plus no creaks & groans.
