Toronto Taxi Drivers Protesting Uber

I watched a discussion once about this and when you consider that taxi drivers have to take a course, pay for a license and liability insurance, etc, meet some other basic criteria and the Uber drivers just have to have a car and an app, it does seem awfully unfair.

And that's how they tempering them in many cities. I will say unless Uber drivers tell their insurance company they are using their car for business they are risking their and passenger safety because many residential car insurance policies won't pay a commercial use claim. I'm not sure of Uber's requirement although they act more like a broker than service provider. The individual drivers are basically sub contractors for Uber. Their format has merit but their means need improvement.
 

Uber drivers have to meet many of the same requirements as any other car service drivers, at least here in the states. A lot of what's going around is mostly a smear campaign because of their success. We've had our share of court cases. Insurance for the drivers, the company are no different, drivers must have background checks and the like, my last ride was with a retired police officer from my town. Even one of the news reporters last week was casually talking about the last time she used Uber. My thought on that though was, um, can you leave Uber to us poorer folks. LOL!

At the moment, I am very much in the Uber camp, I use them whenever the need for car service arises and I'm very happy with them and their drivers, of course there will be bad apples in every camp drivers and passengers as in the case where the executive beat up an Uber driver and was fired from his very prestigious job for his drunken assault.
