The Toronto Western Hospital has announced that it will open a special "seniors only " Emergency department in the spring of 2023. This facility will be within the TWH building, but in a different place than the existing ER. The new seniors facility will be equipped with a number of features designed for seniors, such as heated floors, hand rails in all hallways, brighter lighting in the rooms, and CCTV cameras in all patient rooms for better observation of patients. Toronto Western is one of my hospitals, so I was delighted to read this announcement recently. TWH has received a 53 million dollar donation from the Daniels family which will be used to build the new facility, as well as expand a number of current departments in TWH.

Don't like the idea of cameras in a room. In fact, thinking about it is making me angry. I'm really steeling myself to off myself if I'm ever going to be placed in such a humiliating situation. No thanks, overkill for cameras in the room.

Cameras would be useful to see if someone was having a fall or seizure etc. it only if someone was monitoring the cameras. With shortages at all levels of medical staff I still don’t think video care is a very good substitute.
