Traffic on Kwinana Freeway at 6am

Rush hour (which isn't an hour, but more likely a two hour long period at least) is hell.

Of all the things I miss about not going to work daily, it's the commute. Be it by car, train, or plane - getting from point A to point B along with everyone else is horrible. imo. I did a long period (just over a year) with a commute that was approaching 4 hours one way travel to work by car (thank you route 66 and 495). So the best part of 8 hours a day. The job was exciting, and I learned a lot (I worked with a guy named Kevin who was simply brilliant at what he did). But man, it was the commute that broke me.

yes it's terrible isn't it?..but at least unlike here your traffic is actually mving.. thye call our motorways car parks...

Of course nother way of thinking is that at least people are actually going to work and not staying home on the dole...(y)

How about this traffic jam in China... 100kms long, lasted 10 days

Moving at 6am but it does slow right down by 7am and is stop-go from then.
That Chinese jam is simply ridiculous

Looks like I-4 in Florida. I-4 runs from Daytona to Tampa. The main problem with I-4 is that it runs through Orlando where Walt Disney World is located. It has improved a little, if coming from the east side of Orlando since they built expressed lanes, which cost a few bucks to travel them. I understory are building express lanes from the west side of Orlando, which may ease the traffic, but I doubt if it will be a significant reduction in traffic.

It’s the worse highway in Florida. I spoke with a Florida Highway Trooper and he told me they make every attempt to avoid I-4.

From Google:

Interstate 4
Highway in Florida

Interstate 4 (I-4) is a 132.3 mile highway in Florida that runs from Tampa to Daytona. The worse part of the interstate is between Tampa and Orlando. It's known for heavy traffic, construction, and crashes, and has been called the deadliest highway in the US. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) maintains I-4, which is also State Road 400. Traffic and safety: I-4 is notorious for traffic jams and accidents, averaging 34 fatal crashes per year.

Why did you not get a crash pad?

Stupidity. :D

It all sounds crazy these days. It was the early days of the internet. We have quickly forgotten what it was like before the internet, but I well recall. The job was at a large internet hosting business. They had part of Microsoft's online presence, they had Disney and other large retailers. It was a huge deal. So I studied hard for a year, and managed to get in. I went in as something of an "expert" on the technology, and on day one met a guy named Kevin. Kevin was leagues better than I was. It's very humbling to go from being an expert, to being a mid-range guy - but that's how it was.

Of course, this meant it was a greater challenge, and all the more exciting. It was a great job, but as you would have guessed, the commute was total burn out. So it wasn't a long term career move, but it was something I truly enjoyed.

They are threatening to build a rail system across there that would connect with the one that comes up from Miami.

That would really help. Getting the commuters off the road would probably lessen a large amount of the traffic.
I thought I-4 was pretty bad with the Trooper told me they don’t patrol it due to the amount of traffic.
