Transgender Banned from Competing in a Woman's Bicycle Race

I also believe transgender women competing against women born female have an unfair advantage so I'm not for it, but I don't agree that most transition just for sports. I doubt many of you will watch the videos but I've posted them.

There was a transgender woman who went by SmileyHolly in this forum. She had a husband and a good life and added a lot to the forum. She was only here for a short time and quickly left. I can understand why.

I read a follow-up about the person in my opening post,
a month ago he won a Men's Cycle event at a University,
now she is upset because she was banned from a women's
event! Full Story Here.

Extract from the story in the link.
Emily was forced out of the National Omnium Championships
by international governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale
(UCI) who said the controversial cyclist, who competed at the highest
level as a man just a few weeks ago and held the UK national junior
men's record over 25 miles, was ineligible.

You can't have it both ways I fear.

Mike.

What a world our children are inheriting,we have a lot to answer for,yes our generation I could go on and on about what WE have stuffed up. Looking back to my childhood (50``s and 60`s) compared to to days children, you know what we had nothing but in reality we had everything,Stop the world I want to get off!!!

Transgenders have every right to participate in organized sports. IMO the simple answer is to create leagues for these individuals to compete with each other. Some women's sports have done this very thing and it has worked out well. Just a thought. To simple I suppose or maybe there is more money to be made stirring up hate and discontent?

I recall SF members being very welcoming toward SmileyHolly and missed her when she left. If any were unkind or cruel toward her I missed it and certainly would have defended her. :(

I don't think it's the same as a male who was born male.
Agreed, but it's equally true that someone who was born male and transitions to female is not the same as a female who was born female.

I'm typically VERY liberal on all LGBTQ+ issues, but not when it comes to gender-based athletic competitions that involve scholarships and monetary rewards.

Boris J today announced that no transgender people will take part in official sporting events, meant for the opposite or original sex..

therefore all females born females will be able to take part... all males born Males , will take part whether transgendered or not..

so if you're a Male born .. and have transgendered to female, you will have to pull your big girls' panties up .. and join the mens' team... and vice versa females..
