Thanks for sharing your website and travels, @bowmore ! Great photos! I read one of your trips. Will have to return to read some more. What an adventurous life! And we have them on our website www.stevekathytravels.com
By all means stay home unless the trip is important. Dad’s 90th sounds important. If enough people stopped traveling, it would be a better experience for me.I guess it's just "getting older" but I don't do well handling the uncertainties of travel. Airport parking...plane flight~connecting plane flight...car rental...hotel arrangements. View attachment 289369
Leaving tomorrow to visit wife's dad for his 90th birthday and Father's Day. Have reservations for a room in Brattleboro, VT, we won't be getting there'til about 2AM, but the front desk closes at 11. I've been calling them, nobody answers the phone!
I feel like cancelling and making reservations at another hotel, but would still owe this place a days rent plus a pile of fees.
Another issue is car rental, the agents typically try to make the experience as painful and expensive as possible.![]()
Yep, quick firm "No, and No to all extras" helps, you might have to say it several times...I do agree with you on car rentals. Just be firm and politely let them know they are wasting their time trying to get you to signup for extras
What does the hotel cost have to do with the cruise line? Separate companies! Plus $600 a night really sounds like a pretty nice hotel instead of a more basic one or an AirBnB. The cruise is a bargain especially for people who live in Vancouver who would only need parking or use of public transportation.Ha, Ha, Ha! Here is one for you folks to "chew" on.
I'm a Canadian looking at an Alaskan Cruise. Now, the price for a 7 day/inside cabinet is around $360. What a wonderful bargain.............. it seems.
When I researched the cost of a hotel near the cruise port in Vancouver, some places are asking $600/night plus tax.
Willy Shakespeare said "There's something rotten in the state of Denmark."
Packerjohn (me) says, "There's something rotten in Canada's cruise ships from the west coast."
A fool and his money are quickly parted but I'm hanging on to mine. Ha, ha!
First, why would you want to book an inside cabin on a cruise through Alaska? The scenery is amazing.Ha, Ha, Ha! Here is one for you folks to "chew" on.

Because it’s so much cheaper and you can sit on any of the decks for beautiful views. That’s exactly what we did.,First, why would you want to book an inside cabin on a cruise through Alaska? The scenery is amazing.
Secondly, you can always book your own hotel room at a much lower price.
Okay, point taken. My career was in the cruise industry so I guess I have a bias.Because it’s so much cheaper and you can sit on any of the decks for beautiful views. That’s exactly what we did.,
Same here. I'm not the type of person who can sit out on a balcony for long periods of time and stare at things. When I get the urge to stare at things, I can go up on the deck and stare at things or stare at things out windows all over the ship. I'm really good at staring at things from different angles and places.Because it’s so much cheaper and you can sit on any of the decks for beautiful views. That’s exactly what we did.,
