This area goes crazy for the Travers Stakes - a prestigious thoroughbred race that always takes place on the fourth Saturday in August at the Saratoga racetrack. Although racing continues through Labor Day (first Monday in September), it seems after the Travers, Saratoga's summer season is curtailed a great extent.
