Trees blown down in a summer storm many years ago

Must have been the late 1980s or early 1990s. I remember it quite well. It was a widespread local storm and the news reported that it was straight-line wind damage. One tree toppled and then it was like dominoes. Took out all the trees between neighbors an my house. One fallen tree blocked the main street and the DPW had to be called in to clean up.

Winds sure are random. We had a windy day this week and next morning I realized one of my horse shelters had blown upside down. Little plastic bird bath not even blown over, but several ton building flipped, so strange. My neighbor said all of his outbuildings were ok but that someone two miles away had an outbuilding blown over. Best news for me is that the neighbor said he will put my shelter back and anchor it better, and not charge me anything!

I really enjoy watching the HUGE redwoods that come down the river and bounce along the coast during a really rough winter. Very dangerous as they become waterlogged and travel just below the surface.

All it takes is for the gusty wind to get ahold and the shelter is no more. Glad nobody was hurt and kudos to your neighbor for helping.

Have seen some drone footage of the collapse of Highway 1 near Big Sur ... UNREAL!
So sad about the Redwoods, and what the future will hold.

It's been years, but was amazed at the beauty of all those HUGE trees while visiting the area.

I agree, yet the mountains slide all the time and the trees go with them. All a part of the natural world.
I love them, too, and always take visitors to see them. (All we gotta do is look out my window.)
