Trick or Treaters - What do You Give Them

As a kid, I always hated the people that gave out apples. I wouldn’t be able to afford those now; they’re almost $1 each. And they always went in the garbage. The next worst were those candy kisses.
I liked the apples ok, but not the oranges so much.

And if you mean Hershey's Kisses, the only problem with them is they're very small.

No, not Hershey’s.

“With their distinctive orange and yellow waxy wrappers, embellished with witches, owls and jack-o-lanterns, Kerr's Original Halloween Kisses are uniquely Canadian.”

We’re idiots. These things are terrible. Yuck. Only mean people gave them out. Guess that sums up how I feel about them.

I didn't have our son get anything, I might have been up for the approximately 20 kids. However this year hopefully the parents will take the kids to an indoor activity due to the fact that we have had so many bears in town this year. Their normal food has burned up , their normal homes have also burned, and breathing in those areas has been difficult, so they have come to town looking for food especially now they are trying to bulk up for hibernation. I wouldn't have let my kids trick or treat in this town this year!

My area is too isolated to expect kids, but the village always welcomes treat or treaters, nd the few families around here with kids always bring them down to the village on Halloween.

The local volunteer fire department also gives out candy and has a display of smoke detectors and gives many of them to parents who show up with their kids. It is a good reminder on Halloween to make sure your smoke detectors are working properly. I was a volunteer with the fire department auxiliary for many years and I would wear a costume ( as some of the firemen did as well).

I was Dolly Parton, Queen Elizabeth, a Witch, and I found a cheap bridal gown at a local Salvation Army one year and had a nice sheer curtain I made a veil with and one of my closest male friends , a fireman, was shocked when I got out of my car at the fire department, in that bride outfit, to help give out candy He said "is this a hint?"- but I sure said "NO!".

I made a bouquet with some artificial flowers and used my fire/police scanner and it's belt to keep the long gown off the floor.

When I lived in a city a neighbor let me borrow his grass skirt and big sun hat from Hawaii, with some large earrings and other stuff he would wear to the senior center on Halloween. I had just bought a stove or drier and they had not delivered it on time so I went to the store to complain and the owner looked at me like I was nuts, because I was on my way to a Halloween party at a school.

He promised the delivery would be the next day and asked me, as I left, if it was Halloween. I guess he had no kids.

My church in another village always has trick or treats for the village kids.

Our local news said it might snow on Halloween here, and it will be VERY cold so I hope the kids are wearing layered clothes under their costumes.
