Trip to New Braunfels

We went to New Braunfels today, and also Gruene (pronounced "green"). We visited the New Braunfels Conservation Society, which has preserved a collection of old buildings, most built by early German settlers. The houses were the most interesting to me. We saw (and heard!) an old player piano. The Comal River rises in New Braunfels out of the Comal Springs. It is the shortest navigable river in the country, at only 2.5 miles long. And it's beautiful. In the summer it is crowded with people "toobing." We ate lunch outside at the Gristmill in Gruene, which overlooks the Guadalupe river. It was a perfectly lovely day, and we are both pooped. Sure is good to get out of Dodge.B0D5A773-52D1-4A5D-A33D-EB6A22FFC0CA.jpeg637A8451-ADE5-47B6-84A8-3DEDA15E2C83.jpeg10DAD8F5-32B4-4960-970F-F63548E273FE.jpeg3238B2E0-C54B-4458-B6F0-D7D7C4181D74.jpeg

Good for you CFT, don't let the moss grow-great place to visit, is it still sparsely populated-that was it's charm.

I haven't been to New Braunfels in some time; last time we did go thru on our way to Austin... but, that was ages ago. I have a nephew that lives in Kyle, Texas (near San Marcos).
