As many of you know my hubby and I dance and walk distances to keep our fitness up,as we age
However my hubby was buzzing about a couple of days ago out in his shed that resulted in a broken hip .:cry:

The postman had just delivered new cartridges for our under sink drinking water filter system so hubs took them out to the shed along with the holder that the cartridges go in so he could wash them before putting the new filters in .

He was in and out of the shed washing the cartridge out with rainwater ....and stepped into the shed which a has a smooth surface finish on the concrete floor and slipped / fell and broke his hip ,which requires a total hip replacement
which is happening today ...so please be careful despite being fit / active it can happen to anyone

So sorry to hear this news, Kadee. My hubby had a hip replacement, just over a year ago. He did well with recovery, as he was very conscientious about doing his exercises. It should take 6-8 weeks for your hubby to be walking normally again.

I'm always very aware of where I'm stepping, as I've had a couple of falls that could have been very serious.

Be careful, everyone .. watch your step.

Kadee, like others have said, I wish your husband a speedy recovery. He was fortunate that you, or someone, was there, or maybe he was able to call for help.

Have you heard of Cilla Black? One of our famous songbirds of the 60's, she carved out a TV career that spanned decades, a national treasure and much loved celebrity. Cilla also slipped whilst spending a week or so with her eldest son in their Portuguese apartment. Sadly no one was there when Cilla slipped, within an hour she had passed away.

Your post is very important to all of us who are 40 years younger, in our heads, but the reality is, we are in our twilight years, so take extra care.

My hubby is coming up 74 in April so let’s hope his fitness will assist him greatly in his recovery .

When I first went out to the shed after he called me ,I found him standing with his head leaning on his huge toolbox ,he had managed to get up with one good leg by pulling himself up by holding onto his huge tool trolley / cupboard ( he was a diesel mechanic in his working days )

^^^ Wow, that shows he's definitely strong and determined.
He will likely do excellent with the recovery process.

Take care of yourself too; it will help him and yourself, if you do.đź’ž

And also keep in mind, he will look stronger and better, each day, than he does in the first day after surgery.
