True. I once got a ticket for not coming to a complete stop. To me, if there's nothing coming in either direction, go for it (except if it's in front of the police station).
The stupidest place I've seen stop signs is where a side street intersects a main road in a T. There are stop signs at each point (see diagram). I could see it at the side street, but why on the main street?
