Tuesday's "tough" question...

I think both would be cool. I can see myself stationed like a drug sniffing dog at the airport listening for peoples dangerous/criminal thoughts. Probably have to learn how to tune out 'where is the bathroom?' thoughts! ha ha

Seeing the future would be nice, if I knew how long I'd be alive I'd know whether I can afford to splurge or have to be frugal. And if I could see far in the future, hundreds or thousands of years, wow that would be so fun. That is something that I sometimes feel bad about, that I'll die and never know what happens next.

If you knew how unoriginal other people's thoughts really are you would hate the idea of reading their thoughts. I wouldn't want to know the future without the ability to go there. That's just nuts.

I can already read people pretty well so I'd choose knowing the future though it scares me to death.

If you could read minds you would see all the nasty thoughts as well as good thoughts and I could not live with that....too frightening.
The future...mine or the world ??....neither. Take life as it comes.
According to the fiction series I read by Al Macy, you have to learn to block people's thoughts. Otherwise you get overwhelmed. You'd have to keep it a secret, because no one would believe you. If you proved it, they would either be afraid of you, or think you were crazy.

On knowing the future, I agree with you. First, there are no good surprises. Second, presumably knowing about the bad things that will happen will either cause severe anxiety, or will make you want to tell people and/or save them from what is going to happen. The second consequence is against The Fictional Rules. Not only could it be extremely dangerous, it could land one in the psych ward. No one would believe anyone could know the future.

Also, knowing the future takes away hope, and it is unclear whether it can be changed for the better. We are not gods and we cannot see all the consequences if we could change it.

I had just finished a 3 day and night meditation seminar for Trancendental Meditation.
Stopped at a grocery on the way home to pick up a few things and found I knew exactly what each person in line was thinking.
All their aches and pains, a lady didn't want to go home and fight with her husband, back aches, annoyances, EVERYTHING!
Their random thoughts were so depressing! I knew what the cashier was thinking. It was awful!

Right there, I prayed! I asked, if this was a gift to me, please take it away! I don't want to read minds!
I would have loved it, if mankind sent thoughts of wonder and intelligence instead.

Anyway, I think both qualities are within all of us. We can all read minds and know the future to a degree.
I think the strength and clarity of thought has a lot to do with it, as well as awareness and perception.
