Tuna Casserole

OK.. I promised you the recipe and here it is.. Not very exciting but it makes for a lovely meal..

I used to use a box of "Tuna Helper" and then discovered I can make it my way without the bought stuff..
I went to a store called "Bulk Barn" and they have the same powdered sauce which is cheesey..
I dice a small yellow onion..
Slice some mushrooms..
Frozen peas..

I put about 2 Tbsp of oil in a pot (that has a lid).. Heat up the oil and add the onion and mushrooms.. Saute for a minuit or so.. Add one can of tuna with the juice.. Add 1 1/2 cups of light cream.. Bring to a slow boil.. Add the frozen peas..
Mix 3/4 cup of the cheesey mixture in 1 cup of boiling water and add to the pot.. Add 3/4 more cup of boiling water.. You can add some herbs and spices at this point such as salt, pepper, dill, dash of hot sauce or whatever you like..
Add about 2 cups of a small pasta such as elbows, shells, or spirals..
Reduce heat to a simmer and simmer for about 12 to 15 minuites (pot covered) or until the pasta is done.. Stir frequently so it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot..
Remove from the heat, remove cover and let stand for at least 5 minuites to allow the sauce to thicken..

There you have it !!! Plain and simple.. We enjoy this dish very much and I like a one dish meal..

You can use almost any vegetable in the pot.. I often add some scraped carrots, broccoli florettes, green beans, or whatever you like.........

Sounds nice Steve , however I would not make it just for myself, Hubby won't eat canned fish ..or Fresh salmon ( I buy fresh atlantic salmon for myself)

I will be having a go with this recipe ( or as close as I can get to it) very soon, thanks Steve.

I was just thinking..................................... Now that could be dangerous !!!!!!

If anyone still wants to use a box of "Tuna Helper" it isn't all that bad.. Just add loads of veggies such as onions, mushrooms, green beans, scraped carrots, broccoli floretts, or whatever veggie you happen to have on hand.. Even some diced tomatoes (no juice) would go well.....

Now don't go adding all those veggies at once.. Just a few at one time........

They supply the pasta which is the perfect amount..
I often add a few drops of hot sauce to give a good flavour.. Not too much !!!!

Made it the other night and I used chopped onions, green beans, and mushrooms..
I added a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese at the last moment.. Also a bit of dried dill..
