Brownie Wise developed the “Tupperware Party” marketing model that led to the incredible success of Tupperware products in the 1950s. Wise is shown on the right tossing a gravy filled Tupperware container at a party in 1952

Does anyone remember going to these parties? I went to quite a few and had cupboards full to the brim. What a brilliant idea she had.

My mom did Tupperware sales for a few years. Then she did Wilton cake-decorating products, liquid embroidery, Mary Kay make-up, Watkins spices, and finally, some toy company - all home demonstration sales. She was really good at it and won salesperson of the month and year prizes, mostly all-expenses-paid trips in the US, and also a cruise to the Bahamas and a trip to Mexico.

I have a big heap that’s earmarked to go to charity or what we call Op shop next week
some of it was large square containers that held 3 kg of sugar flour what ever
they are just to big for my needs now days .
As well as we recently sold out caravan that had heaps of what was called square / round canisters so that’s added to list of op shop stuff

My cupboards were full of those orange, yellow & green things. Since I never went to a party, I don’t know where I bought them. Maybe they were gifts to keep me in vogue. It really was pretty good quality.

I never went to the parties but had a few pieces. I loved the salt and pepper shaker which I had by the stove for years. The best part about it was the lid. I was able to flip the lid off and dip into it with my measuring spoons. When the lid was snapped on it became a shaker.
No unscrewing the metal top that most have today.
Once the top cracked and I was able to get a replacement part. Can't do that in todays world.

My grandmother sold Emmons jewelry at home parties. I used to go to the parties with her and help her set up. She didn't drive, so Grandpa had to drive her to and from the parties. Sometimes, I'd skip out and spend the evening with him. We'd go get ice cream sundaes or go to a movie. It was fun either way.

Grandma kept all her samples over the years. My sister has the jewelry now and it's great quality and somewhat back in style. It's surprising it's in such good shape because we played with it all the time as we were growing up.
