TV Shows - Things that Bother You

There’re be lots of little things that bother me when watching tv shows.

One is the drinking. I’m not a teetotaler but so many characters are pouring really stiff drinks - constantly.

Their life is in danger & they’re sitting in front on a window with sheer curtains and the lights on. I keep telling them to use some common sense.

Improve the grammar. One tv episode was obviously written by someone who thought all cowboys say ain’t repeatedly. It was occasionally on the other episodes.

Seatbelts - wear them.

I'm mostly bothered by all the half nakedness...sexual innuendo...violence...swearing.

But this is today's world so they are playing to today's people. I don't ever recall June Cleaver running around dressed like Peggy Bundy and the kids swearing like sailors.

Why do folks here watch TV? There have been threads complaining about commercials, aspects of TV shows, etc. I stopped watching commercial TV long ago and wouldn't miss streamed programming if we didn't have it (my wife has Amazon Prime for other reasons, but their streaming TV comes with it so we watch the occasional movie or documentary) because we have other things such as reading and hobbies to occupy our time.

When it comes to thriller type shows, the stupidity displayed by actors and actresses I will never understand.

If I knew a killer was outside the door, I'd run for my life, out the door at the opposite end of the house, but the silly actors and actresses reach for a knife and sit in the corner of the kitchen while the killer knocks the door in.

Or when the actor/actress is confronted with a killer in their home, they show them staring down a long, dark hallway, and sure enough, the actor/actress investigates the hallway as if to say, here I am, I'm all yours, come and get me.

I don't watch many TV shows anymore except for a few foreign ones on Prime. I don't see what nudity and personal love scenes add to the show except to take up time left over from commercials and plot shortfall. Can't fill all the left over parts of the show with them driving around, walking and drinking booze, I guess.

I read parts of articles/stories during T V show commercials. Or do a bit of housework. Sometimes I put the T V on Mute during commercials and click on different channels, then go back to what I was watching in the first place. I have a problem with fatiguing Essential Tremor shaking, which is the reason for the above.

Exactly what I've thought.

I was watching a show on Roku. The FBI was investigating a criminal's hideout and one guy was using some kind of detector that went off when it got near the walls. The FBI guy quickly found where the signal was the loudest and said. "There's something in these walls. Give me a hammer." As soon as he hit the wall with the hammer, the whole place blew up killing him and the whole team.

Wouldn't it have been better to use a drill and one of those tubular cameras to see what was in the walls first? Maybe the FBI can only afford to carry hammers around anymore, though at least he didn't shoot the wall.(y)

i got rid of my tv (cable) not the set...years ago. I watch an occasional online movie or some of the programming on Pluto but that's it. the writers have nothing to offer up anymore that's of any interest to me.

In this age I don't understand why a woman stands in the corner like a little scared puppy while her man and a bad guy fight each other just like she did since movie began. Rarely does the woman act to protect her man like the wife of Michael Douglas shot the crazy blonde in the bat tub. I'll have to look up the name of that movie. "Fatal Attraction" was the movie.

People cracking jokes when they are in serious trouble. I watched an episode of Hawaii five O awhile back and the two actors were in a plane that was about to go down into the ocean.
They were kidding each other about the situation. I would have been in shock by then or trying to figure out how the life raft opens should I survive
All that honey and sweetie talk that the moms say to their teenage daughters as they paw away at the kids hair when something happens.. My daughter would say, "enough already and leave my hair alone".

How almost every show (espec. cop shows) are basically soap operas with badges: There'll be 1 or 2 goodlooking young guys, a whole bunch of average or homely guys of all ages, and all of the females are young and drop dead gorgeous and espec. on the cop shows the females dress supersexy like real female cops never do.

They are just plain stupid and play to the lowest common denominator.
Something else that comes to mind is what's considered comedy. Insult humor is not funny nor is lying to cover your misdeeds.
Basically it's insulting and disappointing what the popular culture considers entertainment.
Although there are some very creative shows . . . uhh . . . I'll think of one in a moment...
