Two Earthquakes In Japan Over 24 hours. Fatalities Rising

That's too bad. I've been to Japan a couple times, but not in Mashiki. There was a small quake while I was on Okinawa. There were a few while I lived in the Los Angeles and the SF bay area, too.

Not my fault!

Those are some serious earthquakes, I feel for the folks there, may those who lost their lives rest in peace. :(

Another major earthquake (5.8) has now struck Tonga.
That is three earthquakes in three days around the Pacific ring of fire.

California, New Zealand next? I hope not.

Earthquakes are something humans have to live with. The continental plates have been shifting for billions of years, and will continue to do so. California is at a high risk, and even here in the middle of the country, we have some serious exposure to this phenomenon. The New Madrid fault in Southern Illinois/Missouri, had a really bad quake 200 years ago, and there have been several small quakes since. As the populations increase, any major quake is going to cause a lot of damage and loss of life.
