A 7.8 earthquake strikes Ecuador killing at least 233.

I don't know wether it's better reporting or it's actually happening but it seems over the last decade or so an earthquake seems to be followed by more earthquakes in the same region or hemisphere of the world with in a week or two.

They say there will be The Big One for CA eventually. I was just reading though about the folks in Nepal. Politics and all, the survivors have to basically rebuild by hand. If you want to stay up on global situations

Earthquakes are something humans have to live with. The continental plates have been shifting for billions of years, and will continue to do so. California is at a high risk, and even here in the middle of the country, we have some serious exposure to this phenomenon. The New Madrid fault in Southern Illinois/Missouri, had a really bad quake 200 years ago, and there have been several small quakes since. As the populations increase, any major quake is going to cause a lot of damage and loss of life.
