The Troopers responded to a call from Dick’s Sporting Goods, near Chambersburg that 3 people inside the store were stealing. The three suspects were 2 females and 1 male. Dick’s is a local chain sporting goods store throughout PA.

The Troopers gave chase and after running over spike strips, they abandoned their vehicle. The 2 females surrendered, but the male got into a shootout with the Troopers. They are both in the hospital at this time in the CCU. The suspect that began the shootout was killed by one or both of the Troopers.

The information at this time is sketchy.

Troopers Injured

Dang, you guys in PA are soon going to be short on police if you aren’t already.

I hope your buddies recover and have a good life the rest of the way.

Is it true that once a cop gets seriously wounded, they retire him?
As of last night, they were moved to the ICU and are listed as Serious Condition.

To answer your question, not necessarily. It depends on the seriousness of the wound and how it happened. In this case, I don’t want to comment because I still haven’t heard all the facts.

Another case of extreme force being used in somewhat trivial circumstances. Based on what's here, a retail theft issue turned into a lethal incident. WTF.

Thoughts with the cops, people who do an often thankless task for the betterment of the community. What the shooter was thinking here I don't know. However, I know there was no justification whatsoever. He was killed, and in the end it was an inevitable outcome. And for what? Shoes? Shirts?

ffs

Update: According to the PSP, the shooter was from Baltimore. He was accompanied by 2 women also from Baltimore, who immediately complied with the Troopers demands and were taken into custody. The shooter exited the van via a side door and came around the vehicle to begin firing at the Troopers. A third Trooper took down the shooter.

One Trooper is now home recovering from his injuries. The other Trooper, who has already undergone surgeries is still in the hospital in the ICU. We are still praying for his recovery.

The van was filled with merchandise, money and drugs. They are believed to belong to a larger criminal element.

Yeh between criminal record and scope of his criminal activities the pos knew he would be up the creek without a paddle if caught. Not the pay the price with time kind of criminal.
