U.S. F-15E and A-10 Thunderbolt II shot down over Iran

Iran has never harmed or threatened me. Until they do, I have no cause to see them killed.
Their leadership is/was evil, and they deserved what they got and anything that's coming, but 1,000s of civilians have died as a result of our war on Iran. They didn't to anything against us. And many of those civilians were children.

I believe in staying out of other countries. That said, many countries are likely viewed as having "evil leadership" but we do not attack them. As but one example, the country shown here, which literally prints its hateful view of America on its very postage stamps, as shown below:

Yet we don't attack them. And why? Because they have nuclear weapons - the only thing in this world that has any chance of keeping one's enemies at bay.

I agree. They deserved it. And civilians wanted our help too. Unfortunately and sadly, taking out the regime can bring other loss.

Are you talking North Korea? Not the same at all. They are largely contained and not our biggest concern.

Believe it or not, I also don't agree with getting involved in things with other countries before taking care of our own, but it isn't always that simple.

And the one missing WAS recovered. There ARE good Iranian people... But the govt are enemies.

By "good Iranians" I take it you mean those that will collaborate with a foreign invader that is trying to take over their country. While the "bad Iranians" are the ones that will stand and fight for their country against the invaders. I'd say you have that bass ackwards.

MAD or mutually assured destruction works pretty good even on a smaller scale.

I remember people getting all panicky when India and Pakistan got their nukes. Not even a close call yet. There some religious hardliners in those countries as well. Most smart enough to make a nuclear bomb are smart enough to realize the repercussions of using them.

Back to MAD. The enemy has to know no one will be left behind regardless of cost just as one knows what will happen to a pow.

First of all, I don't think the same of all of one group or generalize them.

Are all Americans good? Of course not.

Are all whites? Blacks? Of course not. All teachers? All plumbers? All cops? Of course not.

However if you live in a country like Iran is? We gripe about how it is here and definitely a lot of things get worse and could be better (US) but are you saying you've been to Iran? Is there somewhere there very pleasant to visit? Do you feel safe? Do you think no one there wants change?

They are our enemies. Not the people but the leadership is/was.

By the way in all lightness, bass ackwards sometimes is the right stance.

Stories and conflicting stories about this supposed rescue mission are emerging which suggest that it was much more than a simple rescue of a downed airman.
The credibility of the Pentagon is at stake here, enough said in this forum

I feel safe from the government of Iran. From my own government, no so much.

How about some info and sources to back up the above claims.

Otherwise, they have all the credibility of “unnamed sources in the government”, and other anonymous experts. As in none.

No way.
If you're curious enough you'll find it yourself.
The only clue I'm giving is that it came one of the Operation Nimrod crew.

EDIT:
Last time I quoted RH, I got a periodic ban.

Not really. It’s all I need to know.

There are a lot of people making this or that claim, expressing some certain truths, or just shooting off their mouths. Few people actually know for sure what is going on. That includes me. And certainly most of the press.

@Brookswood
As Mark Twain said it's easier to fool people than it is to convince them that they've been fooled.
Also the citizens and government of the USA aren't exactly receptive to facts and opinions that they don't want to hear, especially the painful home truths.
So I do believe what that commentator said and if his opinion gets lost among the hubris, so be it.
