UBEREATS ....for McDonalds?

The other day I was in Walgreens, and since there's a McD next door I decided to get a milkshake. Went inside, and while waiting I noticed a green & black placard: "UBEREATS drivers pick up orders here".

I'm familiar with Uber; used it several times. I know they also have a food pickup/delivery service called UBEREATS. I guess certain restaurants/delis, etc. subscribe to it so customers can get food delivered. I've never used it.

I found it odd that someone would order food from McDonald's and have it picked up and delivered by Uber. I guess if a group is watching a game and nobody wants to take time out to go get food.......still, I found it strange.

I crunched some numbers. A round trip Uber to & from the closest McD would be $18 including tip, plus let's say $8 for a sandwich, fries, drink, PLUS there's a $5.00 delivery fee. That's $31. (Uber payment is via credit card)

If I have a get-together, I make plans for food in advance......usually.

Does anyone else find the idea of getting food delivered from McD strange?

There are multiple services that deliver food from restaurants.
UberEats, PostMates. InstaCart, GrubHub, DoorDash - that I know of.
DoorDash has the menu's of all(?) the restaurants - I use that when deciding to try a new restaurant (to go in person, not delivered).
You would not pay the Uber ride fee and the delivery fee.

We ordered some delivery from a neighborhood Chinese restaurant for the first time, tried them a couple of times with take out. Funny you're on this subject, I never used UBER or GrubHub or any service like that. Well this evening the guy came to my house with the Coconut Curry Shrimp and eggrolls with the usual stapled paper bag from the Chinese restaurant. But, it was also in a plastic GrubHub bag. Had us wondering if that restaurant had some kind of deal going with GrubHub to make their deliveries, the plastic bag looked used though, so maybe not. I wouldn't get delivery from McDonalds, I don't think so anyway.
