Man that is epic, those pictures are really something! I hope everybody is going to be ok.

I finally got to read more of the article. (I'm at work, damn job!) I see 7 people have lost their lives. So sad. People really need to stay away from swollen rivers and the seashore. This happens here too when we have inland flooding and especially high tides. I realize not all of the deaths were because they were looky-lou's but still go to higher ground, not run to the flooding to snap a good picture.

I was reading about sunspots the other day, and apparently, they also help to warm up the earth; and since we have been low on those for a while now, the sun is not putting out as much warmth, resulting in that being at least a partial cause for all this cold weather.
Now, we are getting hit by an X-class flare, and they said it might cause magnetic storms, but are not expecting any serious problems from it.
I am attaching a link to the 3 Minute News broadcast for today, and it has an excellent radar map showing exactly how the polar vortex is moving across the continent, and how it is now splitting in the center of the United States. It also shows the storm that is moving through England, and causing all the damage there.
This is a great you tube channel to get weather information every day, and news about sunspots, earthquakes, etc.

Thank you for that link!

I keep waiting for a big solar flare/magnetic storm to knock out our power grids and hurl us back into the dark ages.

The entire eastern Atlantic got clobbered. Big wave riders from around the world flocked en masse.

Got an e-mail from my friend in the UK. She said it is really bad, and she is concerned that UK is really going to sink completely into the ocean. But she is more afraid that the arctic cold weather from the US is going to move in next.

Hope all our UK brothers and sisters are getting through this okay - I've been through several floods and I know it isn't a very nice experience.
