Ukraine and virtue signaling!

"First, it was FIFA, UEFA and the International Skating Union banning Russian athletes and teams from all events, followed by the International Paralympic Committee barring Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing in the upcoming Winter Paralympics.

Now, cats from Russia can't compete in any international competition, the Fédération Internationale Féline announced.

In a statement posted on their website, FIFe said any cat bred in Russia cannot be imported or registered in their pedigree book outside of the country. Not only that, but any cat belonging to exhibitors living in Russia cannot enter any FIFe show outside of the country, no matter where they were registered. The restrictions will be in place until May 31st."

The world has gone mad with virtue signaling. I guess Russian cats refused to denounce Putin. I like Russian salad dressing but maybe I should switch to Italian so I won't be reprimanded by supermarket cashier. I remember when France refused to join the Allies for the invasion of Iraq. Certain people were calling for French Fries to be changed to Freedom Fries.

The mayor of Munich fired the conductor of the Munich Philharmonic because he did not denounce Putin. The conductor is a friend of Putin. He said nothing about the invasion. So he's guilty by silence or association.

There are many times like this that organizations or business decided to virtue signal.

honestly if they items changed the next day they would switch their statement to something else.
This virtue signalling reminds me of children on a playground if they though something was popular or what other kids are saying they do it even if they have no real position themselves.

Each day social media or something has another hashtag or symbol to represent this or that ... sort of thing....
Not saying everyone should not have opinions about items.......... but when it is used as advertising and getting some PR makes me think they are opportunists....

Well, I guess we won’t be hearing any more performances of the “Song of the Volga Boatmen” either. Pity…I loved the bass chorus, and the “Yo heave ho” part. Whatever can I use now for a work chantey? 😸

I am sure that one will get Putin's attention...

The sad thing is all this sacrifice will not hurt Putin who is already tightening relationships with China and India. Saudi Arabia supports him as does UAE. He could end up stronger and the West weaker for these actions and so called economic sanctions. Maybe negotiations will help Western countries but I am not so sure. 🤔

Some small Russian family run places are getting negative reactions. Just because their ancestry was Russian, it doesn’t mean that they approve of what Putin is doing.
