Ukraine for the first in the war went into Russian territory. Went about 15km into the Kursk area of Russia. Caught Russia by surprise. Said to have seized control of gas pumping stations.

Probably won't last long being a smaller force but it does force Russia to rethink strategy and divert resources.

Appears that Ukrainian forces control a city called Sudzha, where they are walking around freely, and are headed toward a nuclear power plant NE of Kursk.

As of last night, 220 to 300 Russian soldiers surrendered or were captured.

Ukranian presences reported seen from the Ukr/Rus border up to a city called Zelenyy, 9 kilometers into Russia, and even farther north.

If Ukr captures the power plant, Russia's economy is forked. It powers the production of 48% of Russia's iron ore and 19% of other ferrous metals, 13.5% of it's steel production, 19.5% of it's sugar, and 9.6% of it's meat products and by products.

6 Russian villages/cities reported to be under Ukr control. It's assumed that Ukr plans to gain Russian territory to use in negotiations.

Putin has been and always will be a bully and very dangerous one at that. I tend to admire the Ukrainian will power to stand up to the Russian aggression. It's a bit like David and Goliath. The Russians have been shown to be weaker than they think, with embarrassing losses. Perhaps the most positive effect has been the discord with Russia, which we can only hope will eventually overpower Putin from within.

His "advisors" and appointees will only tolerate waiting for their turn to disappear somehow for so long. (one would assume)

And a lot of them actually like the US ...and other western countries/western life in general. A lot of them vacation here, own homes and businesses here, and their kids and grandkids attend universities here. In places like London as well. They understand the benefits of capitalism and the pitfalls of Putin socialism. They don't want to see any attempts at an annihilation of any sort. By Putin.

has evacuated more than 76,000 people from border areas in the western region of Kursk as Ukraine continues to push deeper in its cross-border offensive, Russian media reported today.

'More than 76,000 people have been temporarily relocated to safe places,' the state-run TASS news agency reported, citing a local official at a press briefing.

Russia appears to have been caught off guard by a daring incursion into the southwestern Kursk region since Tuesday, though Ukraine has stopped short of formally claiming responsibility.

On Tuesday, Pro-Kyiv forces stormed into the region with around 1,000 troops and more than two dozen armoured vehicles and tanks, according to the Russian army.

It appears to be the most significant Ukrainian attack into Russia since the war erupted, with analysts suggesting Kyiv's troops had advanced up to several miles into Russia.

Russia has desperately tried to fend off the offensive with artillery, airstrikes and troops, but the extent of their success is unclear.

Temporary shelters have been set up in the meantime across eight regions of Russia to house thousands of evacuees now displaced by the incursion in what officials have called a 'slap in the face for the president'.

It's about time, look how much the Ukrainian people have suffered and died from the Russian invasion. It's been one way for too long, Putin needs to be put in his place, he a war criminal, murderous dictator who needs to be stopped.

North Korea gave Russia 8,000 NK soldiers. It was reported a few days ago they haven't been used in combat yet, but it was reported yesterday that hundreds of them were sent to Kursk, and they fired on the Russian army. I don't know why, maybe by mistake, but the report said they killed 2 Russian soldiers.

There's no confirmation on that yet, but it's widely reported the Russians don't like the NK soldiers, and that they're really mad the Russian military supplied them with warmer uniforms, better rifles and guns, and boots with a much higher ratio of leather to polyurethane.

So, maybe someone should ask who shot first. 😜

Saw reports they needed ALOT of training. Supposedly alot are being trained on drones. As notorious as North Korea is touted to be the country hasn't seen large scale combat in over 1/2 a century

Yeah, Kim's a dictator who pretty much minds his own business and enjoys a lot of secrecy...impenetrable secrecy, it seems.

The story about the NK troops "turning their guns" on a Russian unit came from a Russian soldier who was captured by Ukrainians, so it isn't considered reliable at this point.

At least one source (or rumor) said the Russian soldier's story was coerced by his Ukrainian captors just to make the NK soldiers appear either traitorous to Russia or just plain stupid, but I see no value in doing that when the impact of being outed as propagandists far outweighs the impact of the propaganda.

I saw a the video of the Russian soldier telling this story, and it looked legit to me.
 
From the very beginning of this, one vision in my mind has haunted me: Zelensky's head on a pike.

Russia now using 'meat grinder' tactics in a effort to take ground and wear out Ukraine troops by using/throwing waves of troops assaulting Ukraine positions which probably why the landmine request.

I think things are likely to intensify over the next month to gain or recover as much ground as possible before both sides agree to sit down and negotiate some form of peaceful settlement.
