I wouldn't...people would stare, and think me a loon! Umbrellas in general are fairly rare in my part of America, with many thinking that they are too much bother or feeling it's cooler just to get wet...

I've seen people wearing those at games, sitting in the stands - sometimes to keep the sun off. Needs to definitely be wider to keep the rain off

I still use a regular umbrella when it's needed but often will walk in the rain if it's a soft gentle one.

I'd go with a simple water resistant windbreaker jacket with hood, that umbrella hat is too tiny to be useful, any larger would be a neck strain, especially in the wind.

Somewhere I have a photo of me wearing one in Florida. I thought it was fine and good for rain or shine. During a big rainstorm I was walking on the beach (I'm from Oregon and love rain.) and it dawned on me there was metal in the umbrella so I could have been hit by lightening. I realized how ignorant I had been and my friend and I got rid of our hats fast and ran back to the apartment. Next time I see the photo I might post it here.........or not.

I notice the ones in the photos here don't use metal but ours sure did. That was 16 years ago. I can recall because I was 55 years old on the beach in FL the first time I tried Marijuana and that was about the last time too.

Ive got thousands of family pics Im scanning for my daughter to share with the relatives. When I find it I'll post it here as long as you all promise not to show anyone. Now I realize the people weren't looking at us beause our hats were so cute. They thought we were freaking idiots!
