Unlawful Bus Riders Who Sneak Free Bus Rides

A little different but we saw this happen. When having breakfast at Ihop my wife noticed two men at a table who finished their meal. The check had been delivered and ignored while they finished up eating. Then one of them got up and left, while the other one folded up the check and went to the restroom. Coming back into the dining area he walked out of the restaurant without stopping. It was obvious to my wife that this was a practiced routine. Had my wife told me sooner I would have discreetly alerted the server.

Both men were long gone and I brought it to the server's attention. The restaurant was cheated and the server was bilked out of a reasonable tip in a busy restaurant. She was our server as well, she worked hard and provided very good service with pleasant demeanor. I boosted our tip more than usual but that didn't solve the issue it just made us feel a little better.

I used to ride the NYC subways. Fare in 1975 was 50 cents. Now it's $3. Using my handy-dandy inflation calculator, I see that the fares have barely kept up with inflation.

College tuitions, on the other hand, have gone up at about three times the rate of inflation over the past 50 years. Now that is highway robbery.

it IMO is not about the fare IF they can get away with it they do it ...

in my area the common practice is pretending they Lost their bus card drivers if familiar wave them in ........another thing i saw hands full of change that takes a long time to add to machine so driver usually waves them through with very little change put in as it held up line and schedule, this one young lady sat behind me told seat mate said she does it all the time makes sure she is front of line to be waved through and ends up paying 1/3 to 1/2 fare she said it was her "savings hack".

Sadly, that’s not uncommon behavior at all levels and in all areas of society.
