Last week, out driving on a bright sunny day, we noticed cloud formation we'd never seen before. A few clouds were completely elliptical. They were shaped like flying saucers. Sort of like this:

Anyone seen this sort of cloud formation before? They are called "lenticular" clouds.

I've seen them, but only as photos in books.

Flying saucers, yes, that's the first thing that came to mind when I seen the picture!

As a young child I loved to lay back in the shade under a tree and look at all the clouds. We'd do it as a gang, us neighbourhood kids, we spend untold hours talking among us as to what shapes and fun and interesting patterns the clouds would form.

As for ever seeing the cloud formation in the picture, never.
