I would give it a try.
It wouldn't be my first choice either but an eyeball sandwich might be fun for a Halloween party with a bunch of tweenie boppers. Not for me. I love peanut butter and honey sandwiches!
Worth a try. Might also be worth trying to stuff an olive with PB instead of pimento. Might make for an interesting hors dāoeuvre, as does celery with peanut butter.Would a peanut butter and olive sandwich appeal to you?
I've never heard of Marmite. Is it also known as vegemite? What is it with Marmite sandwiches? Or Marmite on toast. Who eats that stuff? It's the skid marks on the devil's underpants.
I had lettuce and tomato in my mayo-ketchup sandwich.
I wouldn't be able to do it, Deb.
My baby brother used to make ketchup and mayonnaise sandwiches. Mom and I would heave watching him eat them. LOL!
It's very similar, but different. Marmite--UK, Vegemite--Australia. Both are an extracted yeast product and to my "Yank" tastes I prefer Marmite. I have tasted both straight, but don't consume it that way. I've used it as an ingredient like one would use Kitchen Bouquet. Just to give you hint what the Vegemite is like eat a really cheap beef bouillon cube--with a salt chaser. The texture is not quite as smooth as wheel packing grease. I would rate Marmite a more palatable version.I've never heard of Marmite. Is it also known as vegemite?

Neither one sounds very palatable to me, but it sounds like something one would use in cooking. I'm going to look into it, just out of curiosity. It's very similar, but different. A combination of equal parts of ketchup and mayo (with seasonings) was a very popular old timey recipe for salad dressing. Used to be served on a wedge of iceberg lettuce with a strip of pimento draped over top. It's also the basis for some fast food hamburger sauces.

I'm unsure if you can still find Vegemite in a store, but lots of regular stores have Marmite.Neither one sounds very palatable to me, but it sounds like something one would use in cooking. I'm going to look into it, just out of curiosity.
I can see how it would make for an excellent hamburger sauce with a few goodies to kick it up.A combination of equal parts of ketchup and mayo (with seasonings) was a very popular old timey recipe for salad dressing. Oddly enough, a few Asian supermarkets here carry Vegemite .. and Milo - 2 things that I got used to when I lived in Australia.I'm unsure if you can still find Vegemite in a store, but lots of regular stores have Marmite.
